Just as a food desert refers to a community lacking access to proper nutrients, a “dream desert” refers to an area in which children lack access to educational opportunities. Children in dream deserts routinely have limited awareness of career avenues open to them, educational pathways and can’t distinguish their own personal strengths.
DOTB connects college students charter chapters with elementary school children in dream deserts. Each week, DOTB’s collegiate partners engage children in hands-on, imaginative activities. Additionally, their social enterprise, Dream Delivered, sends career exploration kits to children, helping to fuel bigger dreams and brighter futures around the world.
