Training unemployed women to repurpose old hotel soap, which is then provided to children in need of soap and hygiene education.

The problem

Basic hand hygiene can prevent the spread of life-threatening diseases; however, soap isn’t available to many parts of the developing world. Meanwhile, the hospitality industry throws away millions of bars of gently used soap every year.

Our Approach

Sundara creates jobs for underprivileged women and implements hygiene education to reduce death and disease. Since 2013, Sundara has employed 40 women full time, recycled over half a million bars of soap and reached over 100,000 children with hygiene education classes across India, Myanmar and Uganda.
