ROLE

The Controller plays a central and demanding role on our finance team, working closely with the CFO to manage a diverse set of accounting functions in a fast-paced environment. A hands-on leader, the position calls for a skilled accountant with a high degree of integrity, ability to communicate data to senior leadership and a strong desire to mentor more junior colleagues.  

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Oversee and execute major accounting functions across several corporate entities including A/R, A/P, GL and cash management.

  • Develop, track, adjust and present event production and company budgets that change in real time.

  • Prepare and present financial data to senior company management.

  • Track all vendor invoices and payments against production budgets.

  • Oversee monthly and year-end close processes and work with external accountants and other partners.

  • Review staff contracts and employment agreements and ensure all consultant and employee documentation is accurate.

  • Oversee core GL tasks such as accrual entries, fixed asset schedules, account reconciliation and revenue recognition.

  • Manage contractor employee onboarding process and perform HR-related duties as necessary.

  • Improve accounting cycle processes and documentation and train finance team colleagues.

SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting in a corporate environment.

  • Enthusiasm for improving operations processes and turning financial data into actionable insights.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and ability to present to individuals and groups with confidence.

  • Calm, organized and solution-oriented demeanor that inspires confidence in colleagues.

  • You embody the ethos and culture of the community and are a collaborative and kind human being.

  • You are a self-starter who is able to work both independently and as part of a team and enjoy passing your knowledge on to others.

  • Events/hospitality industry and CPA certification preferred. Experience with Salesforce helpful.

This is a full-time remote role.

Salary commensurate with experience level.
